RWA's Next Step: Back to Stablecoins and Infrastructure

During the 2026 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), GFM's "RWA & Web3" segment conducted an on-the-spot interview with Gu Hongcai (Ba Er Ya), a figure in the crypto space, in the RWA and Web3 area. The discussion centered on the future directions of Web3, stablecoins, and RWA (real-world assets).

When asked about the long-term development of RWA, the interviewee did not delve into technical or investment aspects but offered a macro and institutional perspective: "The best in the future will be stablecoins."

During the exchange, he pointed out that for RWA to truly take root, the key is not just expanding the concept but ensuring it serves the real economy, reduces friction, and enhances overall stability. Stablecoins have already shown practical effects in cross-border payments and settlements, potentially becoming a critical infrastructure to connect on-chain assets with the real financial system. In other words, without stablecoins as a value anchor and circulation tool, the institutional operation of RWA will face significant limitations.

Regarding the overall trend at CES 2026, he believes that AI and robotics remain the most concentrated focus on-site, reflecting the main direction of the tech industry. However, this does not mean that Web3's importance has declined. On the contrary, Web3 is gradually shifting from a "topic center" to a "foundation" - providing verifiable, traceable, and settleable trust mechanisms for AI and digital systems.

His view can be summarized as: AI addresses "what can be done," while Web3 addresses "can it be trusted." If AI agents, robots, and real-world assets become deeply integrated in the future, stablecoins and Web3 may play a supporting role in value certification and circulation.

GFM's "RWA & Web3" segment believes that the trends presented at CES 2026 indicate that Web3 is returning to its infrastructure role; stablecoins and RWA are being repositioned within the discussion framework of "how to serve the real economy and ensure stable operation." This article focuses solely on the views presented at the CES site and does not provide extended commentary on the historical context of the individuals involved.
