Revolut wins Colombia bank license, targeting 2027 launch

BOGOTA, Sept 15 (Reuters) - British fintech Revolut said on Tuesday it had obtained a banking license in Colombia, according to a company statement.

The company plans to ⁠start operations in the South American country in 2027, a source told Reuters.

Revolut said it would invest an additional $62 million in Colombia in digital banking infrastructure and ⁠financial technology, doubling its initial investment.

The license, granted by Colombia's banking authorities, was the ⁠final regulatory step required before launch, the company said.

Revolut said ⁠it has more than 80 million customers globally, ⁠and nearly 200,000 Colombians on a waiting list to join.
